When you own a car, you have every right to customize it as you see fit. There are certain cars, however, that, when customized, will elicit strong reactions from fellow enthusiasts. One of those is the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe. If you're going to customize one, make sure you do it right. That is, do the opposite of what this particular 1M owner did.
We could overlook certain elements of this highly "stylized" 1M, such as the, um... Okay, forget it. There's nothing to overlook. This car is ugly, and there are more pictures of it posted in a Teamspeed.com forums thread, courtesy of user Lambo91.

Report: Chrysler restarts engineering program at Kettering University

Chrysler is re-establishing a partnership with Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, for students in the automotive engineering program. This relationship was put on hold in 2008 when the automaker began its financial crisis.
Kettering's co-op program is a five-year-long process in which students alternate between work and school terms every three months. This fall, 16 students from Kettering will enter the program, and will stay with Chrysler from their freshman year all the way until graduation.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Chrysler's re-establishment with Kettering is part of the automaker's plan to expand its ties with college engineering programs across the country. Saab, which is currently on life support as money issues continue to pile up, is reportedly about to give its board members a bump in pay. Those aforementioned issues - the inability to pay suppliers and workers, the looming threat of bankruptcy - make the retroactive pay raises received by the Swedish Automobile N.V. (SWAN) board of directors seem just a tad poorly timed.
These raises may have been planned well in advance, as Saab PR is quick to point out. But if you’re one that can feel at ease about the possibility of having an EV that can travel over 1,000 miles on a single charge, the Schluckspecht EV just might prove that it’s an attainable goal after all.The whole collaboration came as a result of partnership between Pforzheim University, the University of Offenburg, and the Fraunhofer Institut EMI, the Schluckspecht - apparently, it translates to "heavy drinker" - shattered the previous EV range record, traveling a distance of 1,103 miles (1,631.5 km), which is almost twice as far as what the previous record - 623 miles - was able to accomplish.The Schluckspecht is powered by 14 lithium-cobalt battery packs and was driven by four drivers in a 36-hour span. The vehicle comes with a lightweight chassis that uses two in-wheel hub motors. It took over 14 years of development before the vehicle finally had its turn in the spotlight. But if you ask anybody associated with the project they’ll tell you that all those years spent building the car was all worth it in the end. According to BMW, it will be the world?s first volume-produced vehicle with a passenger cell made from carbon. The Megacity Vehicle will be built on a new LifeDrive architecture that will help reduce the car’s weight by 250 to 300 kilos.The LifeDrive concept consists of two horizontally separated, independent modules. The Drive module integrates the battery, drive system, and structural and crash functions into a single construction within the chassis. Working in conjunction with the Drive module is the Life module which consists primarily of a high-strength and extremely lightweight passenger cell made from CFRP. These aspects of car building will lead the way to a whole new process for building cars. A process that will be simpler, more flexible, and use less energy."The drive system remains the heartbeat of a car, and that also applies to electric vehicles. Powertrains also remain a core area of expertise of Bayerische Motoren Werke. Electromobility and the hallmark BMW driving pleasure make an excellent match, if you go about things the right way. For this reason we are developing the powertrain for the Megacity Vehicle in-house ? that includes the electric motor, the power electronics and the battery system."In an interview with Automotive News, BMW revealed plans on selling 30,000 units of the i3, which they say is "comparable to one of the lower-volume Mini derivatives." Video: Electric Chevy Camaro tears down the 1/4-mile in 10.08 seconds

Back in April, Ron Adamwicz's electric 1981 Chevrolet Camaro ripped down the quarter-mile track at Palm Beach International Raceway in just 11.253 seconds. In addition to its record-setting quarter-mile run, the electrified Camaro, dubbed "Warp Factor II," set a world record with a 6.8-second eighth-mile run at 93.43 miles per hour. And get this: those records were set with just one of the Camaro's two electric motors operational.
On August 6, with both electric motors functioning correctly, the Team Haiyin EV Racing Chevy Camaro tore down the strip at Lebanon Valley Dragway in 10.08 seconds, hitting a top speed of 127 mph. That time puts the electric Camaro within spitting distance of the Black Current, the converted Volkswagen Beetle that holds the world record for "street bodied" electric vehicles.
The time to beat stands at 9.51 seconds. That's simply amazing considering the 1,001-horsepower Bugatii Veyron roars down the quarter-mile in the mid-10s. The company’s latest project doesn’t deviate from that description as the team over at CR has taken on the task of building the legendary 1965 Shelby G.T.350.Classic Recreations did plenty of work on the car at their facility in Oklahoma, including a complete restoration work on the car’s body while also outfitting it with today’s technology. It’s a car that will definitely cater to old-school aficionados, as well as modern-day torque twisters. Sure, it won’t come cheap - the base price is $119,000 - but anybody knows there’s a certain price to be paid for speed, power, and nostalgia. United States Grand Prix set to move to November 18, 2012
Filed under: MotorsportsSitting outside for several hours under the beating sun in central Texas in June wouldn't exactly be what most would call their cup of tea... though you might feel like you were being steeped inside of one. That's why Formula One Management is set on moving next year's inaugural United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas to November.
The race was originally scheduled for June 17, one week after the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal when the F1 circus is already in North America. However the possibility of moving it was first mooted a couple of months ago as race organizers were facing off against a vocal lobby bent on shutting down the event at Austin's city council. Having won the municipality's approval, the fear is that a June race would just prove too hot for race fans.
The new date is November 18, when the teams are already sailing back across the Atlantic for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Although the FIA has yet to approve the new date, it is part of a revised calendar for 2012 proposed by Bernie Ecclestone, who is obviously as keen to see the USGP succeed as his Texan partners.

The race was originally scheduled for June 17, one week after the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal when the F1 circus is already in North America. However the possibility of moving it was first mooted a couple of months ago as race organizers were facing off against a vocal lobby bent on shutting down the event at Austin's city council. Having won the municipality's approval, the fear is that a June race would just prove too hot for race fans.
The new date is November 18, when the teams are already sailing back across the Atlantic for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Although the FIA has yet to approve the new date, it is part of a revised calendar for 2012 proposed by Bernie Ecclestone, who is obviously as keen to see the USGP succeed as his Texan partners.

According to Rimac, this system is divided into four sub-systems with one system making up one motor, an inverter, and a reduction gearbox. Each of these systems drives on only one wheel and is completely independent from the rest. These wheels then accelerate or decelerate independently from the others and can do so hundreds of times per second. Then there are sensors that have been placed all over the car that channel information to a number of ECUs that controls of each these systems. Rimac even has a name for it: All Wheel Torque Vectoring (AWTV).Mind blowing as it is to comprehend, Rimac is promising an output that’s unheard of for an electric sports car. Using their very own 92-kWh battery module, Rimac is pegging the Concept One to produce an output of 1,088 horsepower and 2,802 lb/ft of torque with a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 189 mph.All this and they still haven’t shown us what the car looks like. Flip-flop malfunction causes SUV to strike and kill three women [w/video]

Tragedy struck in New York on August 10, 2011, when a woman driving a Toyota Highlander lost control of her vehicle and struck three pedestrians, killing them. News 10 out of Albany, New York, reports that the driver, LuAnn Burgess, told police that her flip-flop somehow got jammed under the accelerator pedal, which resulted in the vehicle speeding out of control.
The three women killed in the incident were standing outside a church waiting to use the restroom. Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple called the incident "one of the most horrific accident scenes" he's ever witnessed, adding that the flip-flop did not appear to be wedged under the pedal. The sheriff also said that discussions are taking place to determine whether Burgess would be charged with a crime. Want to buy a 2012 Ford Focus Electric when it hits dealer lots in late 2011? You might be out of luck. Unless, that is, you reside in New York or California, as those are reportedly the only two states that are in line to receive retail deliveries of the electrified Focus before the end of 2011.
Spring 2012 is now the official arrival time for the rest of us who live in the initial 19 markets that will get the Focus Electric. Those markets include Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh Durham, Richmond, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tucson and Washington, D.C.
David Finnegan, Ford's electrified vehicles marketing manager, is being reported saying:
For the first few months of production, we will be concentrating on California and New York. Our dealers in those areas will be the first to have their retail orders scheduled and receive the Focus Electric. We will be rolling out to the remainder of our initial markets starting in Spring 2012.

As far as what i do to style it, for the old haircut (1st pic) I used to comb it all down and straighten it in front of my face, then comb it kind of over my right eye and with the other bang to he left side and re-straighten it in its new position (thick wavy hair doesn't like to cooperate) Then for spiking out the back when the mood struck me, i'd kind of run my fingers up the back of my head and pull out the water after a shower to sort of sudo-dry it in that position already, then when straightening came i'd straighten it straight up, and finally I'd add some texturizer and run my hands up through the back and pull out ward, we have a closet in my house where you can see behind you so i'd usually use that to check for missed spots, don't add too much or it'll fall down, then usually once i got it staying nice and up I'd use the left over Texturizer on my hair to smooth it out and kind of hold it in place, my hair is thick so i'd basically pancake my bang between my palms and smoothen it out. then add a bit of hairspray to the back to hold it in place.For my new hair I'm still experimenting The back is cut so I can spike it out But I've decided to go with wax to spike it which i'm still experimenting with (hence why i have no pictures of that) If you have really long hair i'd suggest some type of wax, simply because it has structure and seems less like lethal spikes than gel, and texturizer would barely help and you'd be holding everything up with hairspray alone otherwise. However it would be a similar idea, running your waxed fingers through you're hair and pulling outwards to make all of the hair stand up, for the front and sides, i pretty much just straighten them and add a bit of texturizer to hold them in place or Depp anti-frizz depending how staticy my hair is. For the bangs I simply straighten everything out and comb it into place so it blends nicely. once it grows a bit further i'll be able to do a fore head showing part but at the moment it doesn't work out to well.So there is what i did for my old hair and what i do for my new haircut... theres actually a story behind my old haircut and the transitions it underwent before i got it as i liked it..then lobed half of it off lol.Thanks!-Tyler

Emo, is a term which is given to the subculture of hardcore punk and pop, which originated from the Washington DC area, but which later spread like wildfire to the rest of the US and also to other parts of the world. Emo has since evolved into a musical and fashion experience which is embraced by quite a number of young adherents.The word ?Emo? actually originated from the term "emocore" which refers to the hardcore punk music scene which started in the mid-1980s. The term is a variation of the word "emotive hardcore", which is what the bands in the DC area sounded like. They have developed a unique punk-rock style of music, which blended the characteristics of the electric guitar with smooth sounded mellow tracks, which are typically screamed from the top of the lungs, hence the term emotive hardcore. When we think Toyota Avalon, phrases like 'social security', 'medicare' and 'Denny's Grand Slam' come to mind. The reason? The majority of Avalons out on the road are driven by old folks and curtain rod salesman, but a report from Automotive News suggests that this could all change in the very near future.
In its report, AN claims that the next Avalon was shown to Toyota dealers in June, and the employees loved what they saw. The large sedan will reportedly undergo a massive redesign that will morph the Avalon from a granny-glider to a curvy stud, with design comparisons already being made to the Audi A7 and the Jaguar XJ.
Sure, Toyota dealers typically spend their work days looking at the Yaris and Corolla, so their design eye could be muddied a bit. But at the very least, the next Avalon should be very different from the model we know and ignore today, and that should be a welcomed change of pace.
Speaking of the Yaris and Corolla, AN states that both models are slated for redesign. The new Yaris will arrive this fall with more aggressive styling and a bit more interior room. The Corolla will also get a heavy refresh for the 2012 model year, though the more thorough overhaul will likely come in the spring of 2014. The Corolla will reportedly evolve into more of a European-inspired design instead of following curvy competitors like the Ford Focus.
Another interesting development could come courtesy of the Sequoia SUV. AN claims that Toyota is looking into dropping the current model for the 2014 model year and using the Sequoia name as an entry trim for the iconic Land Cruiser. I used to go to the salon every 4-6 weeks to get my hair colored. As time and money constraints kick in, these regular visits to the salon are not feasible.I have experimented with just about every hair color brand on the market today. And since one of the cars at the top of our "must drive" list is the Ferrari 458 Italia, naturally we're curious to see what it takes to put one together. Thankfully for us, then, Ferrari brought a video crew into its Maranello, Italy factory, and we're gifted a first-hand view of an engine coming to life.
The Prancing Horse's 4.5-liter V8 produces 562 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. That's enough energy to move the 458 Italia from 0-62 miles per hour in around 3.4 seconds. Keep the gas to the floor and you'll eventually see 202 miles per hour.

The previous GT Speed had 9% more power and 15% more torque than the base GT Continental. Domestic automakers have outpaced their import counterparts on the top ten list of most stolen vehicles for the first time since 2002. According to a new report by the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Ford vehicles took three places on the Most Stolen Vehicles of 2010 list, while two Chevrolet and two Dodge models also made the cut. To be fair, only the 1999 Chevrolet full-size pickup (read: Silverado) and 1997 Ford F-150 broke into the top five - those models landed themselves in fourth and fifth place, respectively. The podium spots go to the 1994 Honda Accord in first, the 1995 Honda Civic in second and the 1991 Toyota Camry in third.
Even though thieves seem to have cultivated a taste for domestic models, vehicle theft on the whole has continued to decline. NICB says that early FBI crime statistics for 2010 indicated a substantial 7.2 percent decrease in stolen vehicles over 2009. Once verified, that will give 2010 the honor of being the year with the fewest stolen vehicles since 1967. Official: Mazda reveals 2012 CX-5 softroader ahead of Frankfurt

Mazda has finally given us all a peek at the company's all-new 2012 CX-5 small crossover ahead of its debut at September's Frankfurt Auto Show. The high-riding five door is draped in the automaker's new "Kodo" design language and relies on a host of SkyActiv engine and transmission options. European buyers will be able to choose between a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 2.2-liter diesel powerplant, both with lofty 14:1 compression ratios. Each engine will be available in Standard Power and High Power iterations, and the high compression ratio helps return improved efficiency.
So far, details are scarce on exactly what kind of transmission options will be available at launch, though whispers kicking around the web have indicated that a six-speed manual gearbox is likely, as well as an available six-speed automatic. Expect to see serious engineering advances in both transmissions designed to serve up increased fuel economy.
Mazda says that the company's Kodo design language stands for "Soul of motion." Whatever it means, we think it's a huge improvement over the Joker-smile faces of the outgoing Nagare era. The Mazda CX-5 is set to debut in Frankfurt on September 13, and the CUV is confirmed for sale in the North American market. The 2012 SL65 AMG is joining the other quietly discontinued model - the SL600 - in order for Mercedes to focus on developing the new generation SL-Class set to be released in 2013.Mercedes hasn’t officially announced why they are phasing out their top of the line SL model, but it may have something to do with the SLS AMG and its similar power output. The SL65 AMG produces 604 HP to the SLS AMG’s 571 HP, but the SLS AMG is also 900 lbs lighter than the SL65 AMG. The lighter weight allows the SLS AMG to be more agile and provide better performance.Dupont Registry is also saying that Mercedes may be slowly eliminating their V12-powered models to make room for their new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This engine fits right into the whole "go green" phenomenon with a fuel efficiency improvement of about 25% when compared to the brand’s 6.3-liter V-8.Either way, the market has lost two of Mercedes’ big guns and so far, they don’t seem to be too upset about it.
